EAT, DRINK & BE MERRY!
Lughnasadh, also known as Lammas, marks the first of three harvest festivals. This is a time of transformation, rebirth and new beginnings!
On this day be grateful for all the work our farmers and animals do to keep our bellies full! Especially in a time where we have really relied on them during the COVID pandemic to supply us when the supermarkets fell into short supply. Apples are beginning to ripen in the trees, our summer vegetables have been picked, corn is tall and green, waiting to be gathered.
This is a good time to give thanks for the abundance we have in our lives, and to be grateful for the food on our tables.
WAYS TO CELEBRATE
- Decorate
Decorate your home or spiritual place with summer & autumn colours and candles. yellows, oranges, and reds. Get some stalks of wheat, barley, or corn, and add those to your space.
- Bake!
A great tradition to do on this festival is something most people experimented with during ‘lockdown’ and that is baking bread!
- BE MERRY
Get yourself a good bottle of wine or a selection of ales and say a big THANK YOU to all the people who worked hard all year round to sow, grow, pick and make the things we eat and drink
